During the long laid back summers that proceeded the project, many of us regulars at "The Grand Barn", discussed the many things that had to be done in order to promote our wonderful Nude lifestyle. During these happy days a suggestion was made, that we approach David Ball of Heritage Video about the possibility of producing a Nudist video along the same lines as his Naked USA series. Of course, I was interested from the start, thinking that this would be an excellent opportunity to do a joint venture, and produce a book as well. It is amazing just what can be acheived when you are surrounded with open-minded forward thinking individuals who don't question whether something can be done, but just do it. David was interested right from the start as well, and nothing but cooperation, admiration, and respect was felt from all of the good people in our small, but growing circle.
In the summer of 1992, boldly setting off into uncharted territory, David, I, and an entourage of a dozen or so dedicated Nudists, embarked on a 6 week project which took us to eleven different Canadian Clubs, produced 40 hours of raw video footage, 1200 photographs, resulting in 2 videos and of course Canada Naturally ... the book.
From the beginning we were determined to record, in a sensitive and tasteful manner, this wonderful Nude lifestyle, from the perspective of we, who are so dedicated to our natural way of living. All the photographs and video shots are of volunteers to whom we are much indebted, and who have become friends of the truest kind. These willing subjects of our now famous book and videos, bent over backwards to accomodate us, often staying up late into the evening debating the many questions and concerns of our lifestyle, giving us many helpful suggestions and much encouragement.
All good things must end, so, filled with the most wonderful memories, I set to work printing the hundreds of prints which were to be required for the book. Bern Loibl (Naturally Magazine), the publisher, sums everything up quite well in his introduction:
"... For Canada Naturally to be my first book (of many to
come) was the perfect choice. It took only a few sample color
prints to sell me on the project. The lavish colors that Richard
manages to capture in his photos, his knack for seeing the best
qualities in people, and his keen awareness of naturist
sensibilities made Canada Naturally the project to which I just
had to contribute. ..."

This book is dedicated to my friend David Ball from Heritage Video, whom I had the great pleasure of working side by side with, during the making of his recent video production, "Canada Naturally", having frequently found ourselves engaged in classic Nudist discussions, late into the evening and realizing that we two were the only ones still Nude;
and to;
my friend Peter Riden and all of his friends and family at, "The Grand Barn", who have given me the constant friendship and support that few would dare to even imagine;
and to;
my friend Bern Loibl who, in a giant leap of faith offered to publish this book on the basis of only a handful of sample photographs;
and to;
all of my friends at the clubs that we visited who are amongst the most cooperative and friendly people that I have ever worked with;
but mostly to you;
my supporters and future friends who, like all of us, are "At Ease with Nudity", and despite the obstacles we all face from a less caring society, will continue to strive for a more tolerant world in which each and every one can live in peace, love, and respect for each other, and be truly free, proud of themselves and their bodies.
For it was in this vain that this book was created, not to be
political, nor offensive, but to show everyone who cares to open
their minds, the joy that some of us have already found.
Canada Naturally ... the book
If you are new to the Nudist/Naturist experience this is an excellent introduction, as well as a useful guide for many Canadian clubs. It is also a "must have" for those more experienced to the lifestyle. For all of you who own my book, thank you for your support. And to everyone, please help spread the word, as I have done in my book, about this wonderful Nude lifestyle, and the many beautiful people in it.
